  • Revelation is meant for Generations not just an Individual

I am brand new to this parenting thing, but I am spending all of energy learning how to do it right through studying the word. It all started when I was directed to Proverbs 25:2 that says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings to search out a matter.” This is speaking of the duty that we have to search out the things revealed to us in the Word of God through study, application, prayer, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is a glorious thing to dedicate our lives to searching out the depths of the Father’s heart.

Then I was led to Deut. 29:29 where it says, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and our children forever that we may do all the words of the law.” This is speaking directly to us that the revelation that we receive is not meant for us alone. Yes, it will help us, strengthen us, and equip us, but God means for it to do the same for the generations behind us. Think about this: What if a parent takes their lifetime searching out the heart of God and is full of revelation and full of knowledge but trains their kids simply by rules, giving them chores and teaching them how to play sports, etc., if that kid wants to know God for themselves they will have to take their entire lifetime to learn the same things and maybe not even go as far as their father or mother did. I tell you what, this is a crazy time we are living in right now.  Of course, that is not new to any of you reading this.  And it is way over said these days, but for good reason.  It hard for me to even be a little self-minded these days.  I have been working for the past year on an album and it is almost done, and I can barely seem to think about it right now because I am trying to get a grip on what is going on in the world. For a month now I have been unable to get out of Matthew 5:3…… the Beatitudes, but I haven’t gotten past verse 3.  Which says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”   This entire month I have awakened to the pride within me and the lack of zeal I have had for the Lord.  I began to think about the difference between a poor man and a rich man.  I tried to go beyond personality types, attitudes, and so on, and tried to look at the undeniable factors.  The only conclusion that I came to was that the rich man neither was hungry nor feared going hungry, and the poor man was or would be hungry and feared going without food.  This is what POOR means in the Hebrew….. I was sitting in The Prayer Room this morning and was unexpectedly captured by the love of my Father God.  I have always had a struggle finding my place in life and just with myself in general.  I believe part of it comes from the fact that my dad and I have never been close and we have had a lot of falling outs.  My wife Sarah has dealt with the same kind of stuff.  Her maternal father has never really been there for her and she comes from a divorced home.

It’s so sad that we live in a society to where it is probably more common for a father to not take responsibility for their children rather than take responsibility and pass down their knowledge and wisdom. Father’s that probably were taught the same thing, that their life comes as a priority compared to their children.  Sometimes there are fathers that are in the home but are completely checked out and live in a different world, offering only the help of their cash and never attempt to impart wisdom and love to their children.   (More …)

You are going to be an amazing father – your children are blessed that God has picked two such amazing parents for them!

I actually had a reasonably “good” relationship with my father. So I never thought my relationship with him hindered my understanding of who God is and how He takes care of me. One day God checked me on this and I discovered I had a number of areas where I had ungodly expectations of God based on my dad’s behaviors. God’s been healing those places in my heart too and realigning me with who He truly is. In doing that it’s helped me to love and forgive my dad right where he is.

I am praying for complete restoration in your heart and even in your natural relationship with your dad…

Blessing be unto you friend :)

Sorry it has been a couple days since I posted.  It is crazy busy right now.  I went and saw a pretty good movie this past Friday with some of my good friends called “Traitor”.  I recommend it for anyone that loves good government based action movies that have a twist and go very deep into the system.  The movie was about a specific group of terrorists and what took place.  I won’t spoil the movie for you at all.  I can’t stand those people.  BOOOOOOOO!

There was an internal struggle between a few in the group.  The all based their Islamic beliefs around the koran, but there was extremist (terrorists) and then there was just a religious man who didn’t believe in war and believed in peace and love. (More …)

How great the Father’s love for us.  How vast beyond all measure.  I was just thinking today about what is lying ahead of Sarah and I with the twins coming.  I have had this roller coaster of faith and doubt.  I know I am the only who deals with that, so please love me anyways.  As I was thinking about the things that we will face financially, mentally, physically, and spiritually I began to think back through the ways that God has always come through for us.

I don’t know how many of you know our story of how we got to St. Louis, but it is only by the grace of God that we are here.  I have been a p.k. all of my life, and swore that I would never end up being a pastor when I grew up.  I ended up going to ministry school at the age of 17 and of course became a youth pastor when I graduated.  I became youth and worship pastor at my father’s church in Crossville, TN near Knoxville.  The town should have a sign at the outskirts that says “Welcome to the Home of Church Splits and Brotherly Judgement”.  There is over 180 churches in that town and everyone of them have been birthed off of a church being divided and someone moving there special opinions down the street.  That will show em! Good stuff, bro! I am glad you ignored that crazy guy on Jim’s blog (wonder who that was) and decided to share anyway.

Heather and I love you both and look forward to seeing the things that God is going to do in you and through you!

God is so good. Thank you for sharing your story… although I have many similar stories – it is so easy to get overwhelmed by the unknowns… I needed a good reminder today that He is totally faithful. Thank you :)

I would like to start this off by asking a question.  How many of you have been raised in church all your life?  Now, how many of you have seen the real, the fake, and the so cheesy you wish you weren’t in the room watching it because you are now apart of the madness?

I am a pastor’s kid of almost 25 years.  I have seen the sides of church that we should raise up in high regard and I have seen the things, that even as a 6 year old would make me ashamed of the people that were around me.  I don’t want to make this a super serious subject, because God knows we have enough arguments over what the church as a whole does wrong.  Let’s just discuss that stuff with God until we get our personal stuff right and then we can open up the can of worms concerning what the church as a whole does wrong.
